Since 1871, the National Episcopal Church Women, ECW, have championed women’s rights and the Christian foundation of God and family. They are a ministry of the Episcopal Church and celebrate that Episcopalians believe in a loving, liberating, and life-giving God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The St Matthew’s ECW is a small group of women who sponser a Christmas Cookie Sale every December. The proceeds go to a variety of public service projects. This year(2023) for our winter project we have had a purse project in which we filled donated purses with hygiene items that were then donated to a group servicing homeless women. Then in the Spring we met to fill bags with all the makings needed for birthday cake and decorating them 20 bags were donated to the Horseheads Food Pantry. Our Fall project was filling 10 shopping bags with the non-perishable makings for Thanksgiving dinner. Again they were donated to the Horseheads Food Pantry and were warmly recieved. In December we had our annual Christmas Cookie Sale. We had an outstanding results with tremendous amount of cookies baked, donated and then boxed for the sale. Then everything of the 74 boxes were sold! Looking forward to even better year in 2024.
